Before I start my blog on Equitana I wanted to share with you one of my all-time favourite moments - my heart literally melts every time I look at this photo! Some of you may have read about Smokey on Cinzia's blog (link below) or have seen her beautiful artwork (link also below). Smokey was born to the Sunshine Mob in July - a Winter baby - and last week I was lucky enough to spend some time with them and captured this gorgeous photo of Smokey and his dad during nap time.
I'll let you in on a little secret...my best photos don't make it on to Facebook. When I sort through my photos, I separate my favourites, and I save them for canvases, photobooks etc. This one or a version of it (because I have several) will be saved for something special - maybe contributing to a new photobook and/or a canvas. I take my creations quite seriously and won't use just any old photo to showcase the brumbies. Even something as simple as creating a photo mug or a canvas tote takes time and effort to choose the right photos and the right design to make sure the brumbies are represented in the right way. I've made some mistakes along the way, and I'm still learning, but I'm making progress and I am hoping some of my creations will be a crowd favourite at Equitana.
So, Equitana 2022 was supposed to be my first real photo exhibition to assist in showcasing the brumbies with AUS Brumby Rehomers United (the group created especially for Equitana). Unfortunately, my circumstances changed and I won't be attending but I'm hoping this event will be a game changer for our brumbies.

The group includes rehomers, trainers, artists and genuine good-hearted people who have united to bring this to fruition. The group will have a stall where you can learn more about the brumbies and the rehoming, and Cinzia will be showing her beautiful artworks at the art precinct as Syndy Esteves ,Visual Artist
There will be brumby memorabilia from the rehomers, artwork from Cinzia and even a few bits and pieces from my collection. Most importantly there will be brumbies there showcasing all they have to offer. Raising awareness for the plight of our brumbies is of paramount importance, and I believe this amazing group of people attending Equitana have what it takes to bring about change. So, if you are heading to Equitana please stop by and have a chat to our courageous rehomers and support them in whichever way you can, and don't forget to visit Cinzia in the art precinct! AND if you choose to purchase any of my memorabilia or photos I will be donating a percentage of my profits to the brumbies.
To the AUS Brumby Rehomers United group I thank you all for your hard work and dedication - a special mention to Bree, Cinzia and Moreen who have done so much behind the scenes to bring this together, and to all the other stars who have committed their time and efforts to making this a reality. I truly wish I could be there to be a part of the magic, and I will definitely be with you in spirit. Good luck my friends, you've got this!
